River Road Route
This is a nice short route for a quick cruise with lots of scenery and local landmarks which follows the trent canal system from Peterborough to Lakefield, Ontario. Local attractions on this route are the lift locks, several park areas, Trent University and several conventional locks along the Otonabee River.
All roads are paved and speed limits vary between 50 kmh & 60 kmh (30mph & 40mph). Total riding time approximately 1 hour plus stops. Total distance approximately 29.1 km (18.2 miles).

Proceed north on Ashburnham to the liftlocks. |

Left on Hunter St E through the liftlocks to Armour Road. |

Right on Armour Road and follow north out of the city. Armour Rd. becomes Cty Rd 32 |

Turn right at stop sign onto Nassau Mills Rd. (Also known as River Road) and continue to Lakefield at Bridge St. |

Note: At this point many people choose to reverse the route and return to Peterborough. Below is an alternate return route to Peterborough at speeds of 50 kph tp 80 kph (30 mph to 50 mph). |

Turn left on Bridge St. and proceed out of Lakefield where Brige St becomes Cty Rd. 28. and follow south back to Lansdowne St W., Peterborough. |
